American Payroll Association

The American Payroll Association (APA) is the professional society of payroll professionals. Established in 1982, The APA  has grown to over 22,000 members nationwide.
The APA provides payroll and human resources educational programs, publications, professional support, and will represent its members in legislative and regulatory arenas on both the state and federal levels.

 

Hampton Roads Chapter

The Hampton Roads Chapter of the American
Payroll Association (HRAPA) serves the
following areas:

Chesapeake Hampton
Newport News Norfolk
Portsmouth Suffolk
Virginia Beach

The HRAPA was established in 2001 currently
has 55 active members. Meetings are held bimonthly on the second Thursday, from 8:00 to10:30 am.
Meeting topics are established and provided in
advance to all members on a regular basis
through www.hrapa.com. Membership is
available on an individual and corporate basis and the cost is $50.00 for individual and $100 for corporate (up to 3 employees) plus $35.00 for each additional employee.

 

HRAPA Mission Statement

We join a network of over 100 chapters that are dedicated to supporting the initiatives of the American Payroll Association, which center on payroll education and the recognition of payroll as a profession.

The Hampton Roads Chapter of the APA serves to: 

  • Increase the skill level of the Payroll Professional through education.

  • Promote and enhance the image of the payroll profession throughout the state of Virginia. 

  • Provide Payroll Professionals with networking opportunities and provide a forum for effective exchange of payroll knowledge, trends, and ideas. 

  • Promote the highest standards of professional practice and payroll ethics.

  • Study groups to prepare intermediate to advanced level Payroll Professionals an opportunity to advance their career by helping those students interested in taking the FPC or CPP certification exam. The study groups also provide a way to earn RCH credits for students for FPC/CPP recertification. 

  • Community Service projects giving members an opportunity to give back to the community.
